New Journal 16 – Santiago

As the sun began to set, we were joined by a puppy. He decided to make his bed under my tripod. We were standing at a lookout on Cerro San Cristobal overlooking the city and mountains. The view was stunning.

Two young fellas joined us and began chatting. After a while they very generously offered us some marijuana, which we gracefully declined. Runners, cyclists, drivers, all stopped briefly to enjoy the sunset before continuing on their journey. We sat and soaked it all in for an hour.

It was a lovely end to a day of exploration in Santiago – a city I could very happily spend more time in.

Today’s Photo – Prambanan

This is a main temple at the ancient Hindu complex of Prambanan in Yogyakarta. It is a strikingly beautiful place. For this image, I desperately wanted to preserve the fine details of the temple. Using the Detail Extractor in Nik Color Efex, I was able to make very fine contrast adjustments that made the design on the temple more crisp.

Wow! Amazing image! You create such beautiful HDR images that look completely realistic and stunning. I am interested in learning how to use luminance masks rather than photomatix but I don’t have the money to buy your tutorial right now. Keep up the great work!
